New York City Subway

If you haven't gone to New York City yet, you may find getting around the place a bit of a concern. The New York City Subway, which started operating in 1904, is now one of the greatest train systems the world over. The New York City subway has more people boarding than many of the biggest cities in the world, like London, Paris and Moscow. The New York City Subway is generally considered as an underground system, although almost half of the system is above ground. Although the subway in Manhattan is almost entirely underground.

The routes for the New York City Subway are determined through letter and numbers. Additionally, there are 26 train lines that are distinguishable by its colours. The subway operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, after all New York City is the city that never sleeps. Although some of the major stations can be found as walk down shop fronts, these stations normally have neon signs alerting users to the stations. Before going through the metal turn styles patrons can purchase a MetroCard from a vending machines. You can however purchase MetroCard in extended time periods like monthly and weekly tickets. Tickets can also be reused and topped up.

The New York City is popular for its ability in saving space, thus, it is not at all surprising that there are only a few lines serviced by the New York City Subway. So, commuters are advised to look out for the numbers and colours. Get yourself a map and you will be able to get around New York City for just over $2 a day.
