Facts About New York City
New York City is undeniably the best city in the world in terms of excitement and amazement. Many Parisian’s and Londoner’s have problems accepting this fact, but at very least New York City is one of the top three amazing cities in the world. One of the reasons why New York City is so exciting is the many personalities and histories that make it the most interesting place to visit and to live. So what do New Yorkers think about their home?
* 70% of New Yorkers think that their city is a great place to live
and 68% of New Yorkers think that New York has improved significantly
in the last few years.
* 60% of New Yorkers believe that they are safe and that the police
protection is good.
* 75% of New Yorkers believe that they are in good health and the same
amount have finished school.
* 28% of New Yorkers have finished college.
* 17% of New Yorker families have a worth (assets, etc) of $100,000
or more but 41% reported no net worth. 25% of New Yorkers own their
own home, as New York is notoriously a city of renters.
* Unfortunately 31% of New Yorkers are living below the poverty line.
There seems to be a great divided between the rich and poor in New York
City, as 6% of New Yorkers have incomes that are at least 10 times the
poverty line. And 2 % of New Yorkers have been doing it so tough that
their gas or electric has been turned off and 7% have been hungry because
they can’t afford food.
* 20% of New Yorkers are living in substandard housing and 14% live
in an overcrowded situation.
* 33% of New Yorkers have a one or more family members that don’t
have access to health insurance.
* However 80% of New Yorkers feel safe in their Neighborhood, which
is vast improvement on years gone by.
